Andrea Pirlo named Juventus U-23 head coach

Andrea Pirlo has been named head coach of Juventus youth team (U23s), the Serie A champions Juventus have announced.

The 41-year-old left Juventus in 2015 to Major League Soccer (MLS) at New York City FC were he played for three seasons before retiring in 2017.

Pirlo played 164 games for the Old Ladies between 2011 and 2015, scoring 19 goals and won 116 caps for Italy, helping them to win the World Cup in 2006.

Juventus U-23 won the Coppa Italia last season in Serie C and finished the league in 10th position.
