The meeting between the Federal Government led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, and the Academic staff union of Universities (ASUU), led by Biodun ogunyemi ended without a resolution to call off the strike.
Although, the Federal government in the meeting agreed to release N30bn for earned academic allowance for University lecturers within a time frame ranging from May 2021 to February 2022.
The Minister also agreed to release funds to the tune of N2Ob for the revitalization of the education sector.
The meeting was however, considered inconclusive and adjourned to October 21, 2020.
The ongoing strike by ASUU has lasted for over six months.
