Luiz Suarez netted a brace on his debut as Atlectico Madrid demolished Granada 6:1 in matchday one of the 2020-21 Laliga season.
New signing Suarez who joined Atlectico on Friday from Barcelona for €6million, started from the bench as Diego Simeone named his matchday squad.
Former Chelsea striker Diego Costa gave Atleti the lead seven minutes into the game, Saul Nigue missed a penalty in the 17th minutes to end the first-half 1-0.
Two minutes into the second-half, Angel Correa makes it 2-0 for Atleti, Joao Felix and Marcos Llorente scored in the 65 and 72 minutes respectively to makes it 4-0.
Suarez came on in the 71 minutes to replace Costa and scored his first goal in the 85th minutes before Jorge Molina scored a consolation goal for Granada in the 87th minutes.
The Uruguay international completed his brace in the 90th minutes to make it 6-0 for Atletico Madrid.
This is Atleti’s biggest win in an opening Laliga game under Diego Simeone.
Atletico will face Huesca on Wednesday, while Granada will play Malmo in a Europa League qualifier on Thursday October 1.
