Chelsea have completed the signing of Benjamin James Chilwell from Leicester City.
The deal is said to be in the region of £50 million and was ratified on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
The England international penned down a five-year deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2025.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the 23-year-old expressed his happiness for joining Frank Lampard side.
“I am delighted ,I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club”, he said.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season”.
“I can’t wait to get started and hopefully it won’t be long before we’re playing in front of the Chelsea fans at Stamford Bridge”.
Leicester City from the beginning of last season appeared set to qualify for the Champions League but since the league return in June from the COVID-19 break, the Foxes won just two games and finished in fifth place, meaning they will be completing in the Europa League.
Chelsea director, Marina Granovskaia added: “We are very pleased to have completed our third addition to our exciting squad for the coming season. Ben brings plenty of top-level experience playing in the Premier League, Champions League and at international level, despite his young age”.
“We are confident Ben will adapt very quickly to being a Chelsea player and with the fixture programme for 2020/21 especially busy, he is a fantastic addition to the squad needed to challenge for honours”.
Ben made 27 league appearances in 2019-20 season, scoring three goals. Chelsea will kick-off their 2020-21 Premier League campaign away to Brighton and Hove Albion on September 14.
