The Blues suffered a 3-0 defeat in the hands of the Blades, David McGoldrick’s first Premier League goal and a header from Oli McBurnie saw the Blades take the lead in the first half.
This result have cause a setback on Chelsea’s dream of playing in the Champions League next season.
This is because if Leicester City wins their game against Bournemouth tomorrow and Manchester United beat Southampton on Monday, Chelsea will move from the third position they currently occupy to fifth on the Premier League table.
Which means they will not play in the Champions League next season but they still have a chance if Manchester City’s appeal at the Court of Arbitration for sport did not favour them.
Frank Lampard’s side will not put their fate in the hands of the Court of Arbitration for they will fight to finished in top four because they still have three matches to play before the season comes to an end.
