The Court of Appeal seating in Abuja on Friday has upheld the election of Duoye Diri as governor of Bayelsea state.
In a verdict delivered on Friday, the court upturned the decision of Bayelsea state Governorship tribunal which removed Governor Duoye Diri from
Office.
Duoye Diri, the candidate of the people’s democratic party had gone to the Appeal court after a three man panel of the Governorship election tribunal in a spilt decision of 2-1 had nullified his election.
A five-man panel of the Court of Appeal led by Justice Adezila Mshelia set aside the tribunal’s verdict and affirmed Diri’s election in its judgment, stating that the ANDP was not unlawfully omitted from the ballot.
