First man to be cured of HIV/AIDS dies at age

Timothy Ray Brown. the fire man to be cured from the dreaded infection, HIV/AIDS has died at the age of 54.

The late Timothy who was the first man to give hope to millions of people living with the virus after he was cured of the infection, died from cancer in his California home.

Taking to Facebook, his partner, Tim Hoeffgen, wrote;

“It is with great sadness that I announce that Timothy passed away… this afternoon surrounded by myself and friends, after a five month battle with leukaemia,”

Brown was diagnosed with HIV while was studying in Berlin in 1995. A decade later, he was diagnosed with leukaemia, a cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow.

More than 37 million people worldwide are currently infected with HIV, and the AIDS pandemic has killed about 35 million people since it began in the 1980s.
