Former Super Eagles defender Taye Taiwo joins Cypriot side Doxa Katokopias-verasgist.com

Former Super Eagles and Marseille defender Taye Taiwo has joined Cypriot first division club Doxa Katokopias on a one-year contract.

The club released an official statement on their website, which read: “The Association, Doxa Katokopia announce the start of co-operation with the Nigerian football player Taye Taiwo”.

“He chose to fight with the number 33. We welcome Taye Taiwo to the Doxa family and wish him every success.”

The 35-year-old veteran defender last played in Finland for RoPS where he scored 1 goal in 27 league appearance for the club.

Doxa finished at the bottom of the league table in the 2019/20 season which was abandoned due to the coronavirus pandemic on Friday May 15, 2020.

The league title was not awarded to any club and no teams were relegated, with the league expanded to 14 teams next season for a transitional year.
