German-Nigerian goalie Maduka Okoye has signed a two-year contract with Dutch Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam with an option for another two years.
The club announced this on their official Twitter account.
They tweeted:
“Sparta Rotterdam has strengthened itself, with the exception of the medical examination, with Maduka Okoye.
The Nigeria international signs for two seasons, with an option for two more seasons.”
Okoye was born in Germany to a Nigerian father and a German mother, he opted to pledge his international allegiance to Nigeria.
The 20-year-old debuted for the Super Eagles in a friendly match against Brazil when he came in as a second half substitute for injured Francis Uzoho in the 63rd minutes on Sunday October 13, 2019. The match ended 1-1.
The Nigerian becomes the club’s fifth signing after the arrival of Lennart Thy from PEC Zwolle, Michael Heylen from FC Emmen, Reda Kharchouch from Telstar and Danzell Gravenberch from FC Dordrecht.
He also the third Nigerian to feature for Sparta Rotterdam after Dele Adeleye and Sani Kaita.
