The Enugu state Police Command in its statement released by the Spokesman of the Command, Ndukwe Daniel, has begun full investigations into the demise of 32-year-old Ifeoma Nwachukwi and her 2-year-old daughter, Chimuanya Nwachukwu.
The unfortunate demise which occurred on the 4th September after mother and daughter went to bed and failed to wake up, had led to public outcry.
Preliminary investigations carried out by the operatives of the Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Henry Chijioke Imo, upon visiting the scene of the incident, had led to the arrest of the deceased Husband, one Nnamami Nkiruka (Female), The Mortician, Victor Onoh (male) alongside three others in connection with the case.
The Preliminary investigation showed that the deceased and her husband, Joshua Nwachukwu, Four Children and their two male visitors all slept in the same room after having Spaghetti for dinner with the Generator said to be switched on in their sitting room.
The Spokesperson of the command added that the case has been transferred to the State CID for a discreet investigation to unravel the true cause(s) of their death.
Ndukwe, while appealing to residents of the state to promptly report criminal cases to the police rather than resorting to self help in matters requiring thorough expertise and police investigation, added that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman, has directed a full scale investigation into the matter to ensure Justice is served.
