Nigeria 4-4 Sierra Leone: The Super Eagles threw away their first half lead

The Super Eagles of Nigeria threw away their first half lead as the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone came from behind to draw 4-4 in Friday’s Group L 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Everton midfielder Alexander Chuka Iwobi put Nigeria ahead four minute into the game, when he pounced on a loose ball to score from the edge of the box.

Napoli striker Victor Oshimen makes it 2-0 for Nigeria in the 21st minutes. Iwobi netted his second goal of the encounter in the 27th minutes to make it 3-0.

The Villarreal man, Samuel Chukwueze put his name on the score sheet in the 29th minutes, when he received a pass from Osimhen, went on a solo run before putting past the Sierra Leone goalie.

Sierra Leone pulled a goal back in the 41st minutes through Quee Kwame and the first-half ended 4-1 in favour of the Super Eagles.

Al-Hadji Kamara who plays for Randers in the Danish Superliga, scored Sierra Leone second goal in the 72nd minute.

Mustapha Bundu who plays for Anderlecht in Belgium added another one in the 80th minutes and Kamara completed his brace in the 89th minutes to take the score line to 4-4.

Despite the draw the Super Eagles still maintain their lead in Group L with seven points. The both teams will meet again on Tuesday in Freetown for the reverse fixture.
