The Super Eagles of Nigeria will go toe-to-toe with the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on Friday (November 13) in matchday 3 of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Nigeria lead Group L with six points, having won their first two games. They beat Benin Republic 2-1 in Uyo and won Lesotho 2-4 in Maseru.
Sierra Leone sit at the bottom of the group with one point from two matches, following a 1-1 draw against Lesotho at home and a 1-0 away defeat to Benin Republic.
The two West African countries have played each other 14 times with Nigeria winning nine times and three times ended in a draw.
Sierra Leone on the other hand, has won two, lost nine and drawn three. The last meeting between the both sides ended 2-1, in favour of the Nigeria.
The three-time African champions
are ranked 32nd in the latest FIFA ranking released last month (October) and fourth in Africa, while the Leone Stars, occupies the 31st spot on the African continent and 120th in the world.
The recent games of the both teams was an international friendly. Sierra Leone played Mauritania while Nigeria squared up against Tunisia, the both matches ended 2-1 and 1-1 respectively.
The last time the Super Eagles played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium was a friendly match against Botswana which ended in a goalless draw.
