NPFL Matchday 4 Wrap: Wikki Tourists ends Rivers United unbeaten run

This is the wrap of matchday 4 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Ten matches were played, four games ended in a draw, five home wins occurred and one away win was recorded.

A total of twenty-two goals were scored with the statisticians recording an average of two goals per game approximately.

Rivers United FC of PortHarcourt experienced their first defeat of the season in the hands of Wikki Tourists at the Abubarkar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.

The Giant Elephant ended the Pride of Rivers perfect start of the season as Chinedu Udeagba scored in the 29th minute from a free kick to give the host a 1-0 victory.

Jigawa Golden Stars produced a stunning performance on Wednesday, defeating Abia Warriors 1-3 at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

The Umuahia based club, took the lead 6th minute into the game but the Badaru Boys equalized through Olasunkanmi Quadri. Stone Samuel scored twice in the 74th and 85th minutes respectively to complete the 1-3 scoreline.

In Owerri at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Heartland FC overpowered Nigeria’s most successful club, Enyimba International 2-0. Goals scored by Shedrack Ogbahali and Adachie Emmanuel in the 33rd and 53rd minutes.

In Kaduna, Kano Pillars
beat Pleateau United 1-0. Captain Rabiu Ali scored the winner from the penalty spot, twelve minute to stoppage time.

Dakkada FC and MFM played out a 1-1 draw at the Nest of Champions, the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Akwa United held Kwara United to
to a 1-1 draw at the Kwara State Stadium in Illorin.

Adamawa United and Nasarawa United played a goalless draw, while Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars settled for a 2-2 draw.

Shadrack Asiegbu scored a consolation goal in the 55th minute for FC Ifeanyi Uba as goals Israel Abi and Awazie Ekene scored in the 12′ and 51′ minutes ensure Enugu Rangers beat the Anambra Warriors 2-1.

Warri Wolves thrash Katsina United 3-0 to climb up the standing to nine place. Goals scored by Mark Daniel, Tega Ebatomara and Jumbo Wisdom in the 58′, 74′,and 81′ minutes respectively.
