The media officer of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club Rivers United FC, Sammy Wejinya has come out to say the club is happy that the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) leadership ended the league using Point Per Game model.
“Rivers United is very delighted that the NFF leadership ratify that PPG statistics and principles would be used to determine the club that would represent Nigeria in the CAF club competitions”. He said this in an interview on TVC yesterday (Friday June 10, 2020).
The leadership of the NFF ended the league yesterday (Friday June 10, 2020) after the meeting they held online.
The meeting had in attendance all the Chairpersons of the National League and the President of the Nigeria Referee Association.
Rivers United finished in second place behind league leaders Plateau United with 45 points from 25 games and have a goal difference of +13 before the league was ended using the PPG model due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Sammy Wejinya is also the head of sports at Megalectrics Nigeria Limited in Port Harcourt, owners of the Beat, Classic, Naija and Lagos Talk Fm.
