Africa’s biggest grocery retailer, Shoprite leaves Nigeria after 15 years.
According to a statement by the company on Monday, August 3 2020, Shoprite has been approached by potential investors who are willing to take over its Nigerian operations.
They also revealed that they were considering an outright sale of its operation as it is selling a majority stake in its Nigerian subsidiary.
It is no news that South African retailers have struggled in West Africa’s most populated country, Nigeria, as just recently, another South African retailer, Mr Price, left the country.
