Mohammed Mustapha Abdalla, The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has announced that single ladies will undergo drug tests before getting married.
The Minister made this known while destroying seized illegal substances in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
According to him, women are now the major drug dealers in the country, and the NDLEA is making plans to partner with religious leaders to make the drug tests mandatory just as other tests are carried out before marriage.
As an extension of the proposed Drug Integrity Test Policy for the public servants, the agency is considering partnering with religious leaders to make drug testing a prerequisite for marriages in churches and mosques as the case for HIV/AIDS”,
The essence of the event is to ensure that all seized illicit drugs were put out of circulation.
19,234.58 kilograms of illicit substances including controlled prescription drugs, cannabis sativa, cocaine and heroin were destroyed.
