Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun join Rangers

Super Eagles defender Leon Aderemi Balogun had signed a one-year contract with Scottish club Rangers for the 2020-21 season with the option to extend a further year.

The Nigerian international joined the Light Blues from Championships club Wigan Athletic in England.

The 32-year-old was part of the Super Eagles team that won the bronze medal at the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Egypt.

He was also part of 23-man squad that Gernot Rohr took to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The Super Eagles were eliminated from the competition in the group stage.

The Scottish Premiership was curtailed on 18 May 2020, with average points per game used to determine final league positions.

As a result, Celtic won a ninth consecutive title, while Rangers finished second on the table and
Hearts was relegated to the Championship.
